Don’t Underestimate the Power of a Walk
Just five minutes in nature can improve your self-esteem and mood. Walking allows you to recover from mental fatigue, improve memory and attention, and build new connections in your brain. “When I weigh what activity I can do almost every day, with little preparation, minimal effort, no special equipment, and that can contract or expand to fit the exact amount of time I have available, it’s walking.” Walking has been proven to improve your memory, attention span, creativity, build new connections between brain cells and slow the aging of brain tissue. Walking out into nature also switches us from voluntary action to involuntary which helps us recover from the mental fatigue we’re all feeling right now. Here are five tips for walking with purpose.
- Walk for perspective.
- Walk for connection.
- Walk for learning.
- Walk for gratitude.
- Walk for productivity.
